Arnold Smith, President


Arnold Smith is founding President of IQMI and continues to lead the company's business development, technology & service development, and investment initiatives. In each of these roles, he has been responsible for bridging the two worlds of commercial fishing and technology development.

Mr. Smith began his career in applied research, followed by more than twenty years in a variety of corporate strategy and business development roles, working throughout North America and in Europe. He is also an equity partner and director of IQMI.


Aaron Laing, VP Operations


Aaron Laing grew up in the commercial fishing industry in Prince Rupert. Twenty-two years of direct fishery experience included work on trollers, in fish plants, as a fish observer, and later with the Hake Consortium of BC.

He began to develop A to Z Quota Registry in 1996, as the trawl quota system was first being developed. He provided support for quota transfers and leases, in that sector and others, from 1997 through 2005. Most recently, Aaron has served as Technical Advisor to the Commercial Industry Caucus.

Having fully grown A to Z, Aaron became a moving force behind the creation of IQMI, where expertise and new technology have been brought together to meet growing demand for quota management services.


Ross Rivers, Director, Dashboard Operations


Ross Rivers joined IQMI in July of 2008. He brings forty years of commercial fishing experience, augmented with formal computer and technology training.

Ross was also a founding partner in Wilkinson Marine Systems, the company that developed FirstMate+ software for commercial fishermen.

Ross is responsible for managing the IQMI Dashboard service. He is the lead contact for setting up client dashboards, overseeing data loads, troubleshooting and online customer training.
